Are there designated fire pits or can you have a fire by the tent?
I think there is but since I didn’t get a spot we cleared a little area to have the fire and a few other people did too
Great spot! Spent to nights hear mid oct! Only thing is a few younger groups staying up late drinking so be sure to bring your earplugs!
Very nice spot! Spent a night here in October 2018. Fresh air and very peaceful when alone.
The spot itself is really nice in the middle of the forest. Awesome trees. There are 12 sites in total. You should be here by 6pm as it gets quiet full afterwards. You can bring your own wood to make a fire.
Toilets are not that nice. They are really smelly and kind of dirty as the toilet paper is lying on the ground around the toilet area. There is rainforest water supply but you cant use it for cooking as it's really dirty. For washing your hands and cuttery it shall be alright. Just bring your own water supply. Also take a rubbish bag as there are no waste disposal areas.
We arrived here around 6pm and there were plenty of camping spaces left but only one car park as lots of other camper vans had set up. There’s about one fire space per 2 campsites. The drop toilets are fine, they were clean and had toilet paper when we went. We were greeted by two lorikeets as we cooked dinner and were able to hand feed them some seeds we had bought. It was an incredible experience!
Big enough free camping area, nice spot. But there are a lot of mosquitos, flys, etc.
So nice for a free site. Water station (not for drinking) and drop toilets too. Woo
Good spot to go have party and few pieces place go early around 2 PM not to late 3 to 6 will turn up full packed many people and I recommend nice place and safe for family
Very nice spot only 10mins drive to Lorne. Bring your own fire wood and drinking water.
Such a nice campsite and easy to access. Required a 4wd in wet conditions, roads are unsealed and are okay for 2wd in dry conditions. Campsite is quiet large and spacious. Drop toilets are available and were clean! Wood fires available in the spaces provided :)
Great free site. Limited spaces. People kept arriving all throughout the afternoon/night and squeezing into any spaces they could. Get in early during peak season. Birds are amazing.
Clean camp, toilets with tank water for washing hands, fire pits (byo wood as its in a national park) raised platforms, small pond (watch young children).
Can get busy on weekends, public holidays and Christmas/Easter holidays.
Was very nice, didn’t get a camp spot at the actual site. We camped just outside the site along the large road as many others did, spots filled up quickly. I got there around 5-6 and there weren’t many spots left.
Great spot in the beautiful Otway’s. Surrounded by bush and tall gums, a great home base for any surf trip.
Great little spot just off the Deans Marsh - Lorne rd. 12 camping spots that would have been perfect for a quite little getaway had it not been for the inconsiderate family who rolled in at 8.30 in 5 cars, set up 6 tents right next to us, yelled at each other for 3 hours, couldn’t get the damp firewood that they were trying to use to light so just kept putting firelighters on it, then yelled at each other when waking up again this morning. Free camping is a great way to get away from it all and spend time with loved ones, but have some respect for other people in the campground and realise that your not in your own living room, and even though you may have a great time, you could be ruining it for others. #dontbeadickhead #havesomerespect #hopethefamilyreadsthis #rantover
Beautiful location in the forest, with an equally scenic drive to get there. Get there before 4 to get a decent camping spot. Long-drop toilets for anyone concerned.
Absolutely beautiful campsite
Amazing wildlife and rainforests 💚
Great campsite, with some decent flat ground spots. Need to arrive early 5pm or earlier to get good spot.
Can light fires but suggested to bring your own wood
Very small campsite! Went here off season and on a weekday night but it was still so busy we couldn’t get into the site. Overall good experience, like us many people parked outside of the campground and stayed anyways.
Have camped here about 3-4 times now, plenty of space for a few groups to comfortably share without feeling like you’re right beside to the next site.
Only downside is some traffic noise in the background, but apart from that a site we happily come back to each time!
