Arrived around Tuesday lunchtime, place was quiet and had only one other family initially, then more arrived later. Narrow strip of land next to the river means plenty of shade this time of year from tall trees. The river had plenty of water in it with rocks skimmed aplenty by the kids. A trek through the bush revealed lots of fallen timber and branches for firewood but dampness / recent rain made it hard going so we went into Dungog and bought wood from the “Camping Wood” lady ($15 a bag, $5 for kindling, turn right at the roundabout at the bottom of the Main Street, opposite the NAB).Although the pit toilets were clean, had bog rolls and didn’t really smell so bad they weren’t serviced every day so take a bog roll along just in case and even though there were pit toilets it seems some prefer nature’s way so warn the kids to stay away from “white spot” dotted around where you wouldn’t expect (seriously? Dig, shit, wipe, burn excess paper with ciggie lighter, bury......not rocket surgery)Overall a relaxing amazing tranquil place, kids explored and played and sharpened ALL the sticks for marshmallows, would go back again.
A great grassy campsite right near the river. Perfect depth to let the kids go paddling. Clean drop toilets and the rangers visited each morning. You need a 4WD to get in as there is a creek to cross.
