Went here for an overnight stay last week, it is a great campsite. There are maybe 15 sites but only about 5 or 6 are flat - the rest all have a slight or moderate angle to them. Toilets were clean enough. Fire pits on all sites and are relatively clean. Will be back for sure.
35 mins from Bacchus Marsh this is a great safe free campsite.
Great place. Love our stay here with our puppy! Plenty of space could barely hear others even though it was pretty packed over weekend.
I went during the week and it was really quiet. Just perfect to relax and have a BBQ. There are lots of fire pits and a toilet. There is no source of water.
it’s only 4wd access?
No by Blue Staffy Camper
If your coming from the Western Fwy & using Google Maps it’ll try to take you up Diggers Track. Ignore that, continue on O’Brien’s Rd until you get to the next turn off which is Upper Chadwick Track. That’ll take you to the campground and can be easily done in a 2WD. by Matt F.
How do you know if the camp is full? Can you call ahead? Or just got to take the risk and rock up?
Just gotta take the risk I'm afraid. And try to get in early on busy periods by Scott B.
Are there swimming spots nearby?
Not really. If you drive to O'Brien's crossing you can have a dip in the river. It's not really swimming though by Scott B.
Is this hard to access during wet weather?
No, is a sealed road by David B.
Well maintained gravel road the whole way. by David
Gravel road with potholes, corrugated in parts ...it's a good 20 minute stretch from the Blackwood side. Very steep roads and tight corners so take it easy. by Katrina R.
What’s the water level like at the moment?
The river at O’Brien’s crossing is flowing. :) by Maria P.
