Absolutely loved this place. Perfect swimming for the kids in shallow calm water with likely encounters with very tame green sea turtles. You can fish off the beach but no speafishing or fishing from any vessel allowed. We used it as the base for our whale shark trip which launched from the boat ramp 30 mins up the road. This National Park is managed by volunteers and the drop toilets are the cleanest I’ve ever seen. The sites are marked and large but very hard to get pegs in. Wooden posts around each site make it easy to tie things down as the wind was pretty fierce during the day but fell away in the afternoon. At night little kangaroo rats come out and snoop around looking for scraps. Don’t be fooled by their names... they’re ridiculously cute. If you fancy it, you can swim out and find bronze whaler and lemon sharks in the deeper gutters.
We had a fantastic time staying at Osprey, good space between camping spots so you aren’t on top of one another, the drop toilets were clean and didn’t smell :)! Amazing location to the wonderful beach where the kids snorkeled with turtles, lots of lovely fish and went out deep to see the Bronze Whaler. The beach is great for kids as the water is so shallow so they can snorkel easily and safely.
We just stayed at Osprey after reading recent family blogs.By far one of the best trips we have done. Clean Toilets, spotless campsite, large bays so not camping on top of each other. Safe swImmIng beach for lIttle ones. We were lucky enough to secure waterfront spot. Snorkelling only metres away, turtles, sunsets with whales jumping. Can not reccomend enough. Top 5 for sure ! Must be self sufficient as no power, water or phone service. For $22 a night we absolutely loved this spot. It can get windy as directly on the beach.
