Wow. We arrived at this camp in the dark (not recommended). The 4wd track can be quite demanding in parts. We pitched up on the hill and we’re blown away at the sunrise the next morning. As a free camp this is easily the No1 location I have stayed.
Amazing! Say no more. This is a stunning area. Unfortunately we saw some toilet paper on one of the mountain tops, which I was extremely disappointing to see some people could choose to litter in such a beautiful spot. Quite windy in some spots, the road in was hard dirt/ sandy in some parts and tight with some low trees, we made it in with a 12ft off-road pop top and a 4x4 just taking it nice and slow through the rutted out parts of the track. But my goodness the views are amazing, and so worth it, highly recommended but please please, PLEASE, don’t litter and take care of the natural habitat. If you follow the track all the way to the end it’s beautiful, possibly a bit more windy but worth it. And you can take on some of the little 4x4 tracks around during the day or throw a line in. Have seen some comments regarding crocs so stay alert, and be smart. My favourite site by far 😁😁😁
Great place to get away from the city. Only a short trip from Mackay (around 1 Hour). A short drive on a dirt road. Amazing views, perfect sunsets 🌅. Late afternoon the cows come down for a feed. 🐂 There are Tyre swings set up for the kids to play on. Plenty of areas to set the camping gear up. Lovely beaches to walk on during the sunset.
Does this place include cats (with harness, leash and tracker) in the allowed pets?
We are a blended family of 6 we have a 4wd truck but we also have to drive a golf Gti towing a teardrop camper to accommodate all of us.. looking at the drive in video would it be possible to camp in a free spot overnight before the track gets to a point where it requires a 4wd?
No not possible you may get in but if there is a storm you won't get out by Rod K.
Is this place also called Notch Point?
Yes it is by Rick J.
